Let’s talk about marketing. I am seeing this quite a bit these days ,of course. I want to talk more specifically about fitness marketing. I am seeing ads such as fit in four weeks, get skinny now, which is not too bad I guess. But really what is the message here?
Is it implying that it’s super easy to reach your fitness goals? Is it making it impossible to reach your fitness goals?
What if someone were to be 60 pounds overweight and hasn’t worked out in at least a year. Are they really going to get fit in four weeks. The answer is no!!! What they will feel though is discouraged and not good enough because this fitness “professional” and I say that in loose terms has told them they can get fit in four weeks or they can be skinny now.
Is it life threatening that these people lie to you? Probably not, well maybe if this leads a person to have eating disorders or is severely depressed. Is it worth the risk? I think not.
And yes I market as much as the next person but you can market with ethics. You can imply in your ad to the person that is reading it that they can reach their goals in twelve weeks or feel fit in 90 days. Stuff like that. It’s realistic but hopeful and motivating to the person that reads it.
If you need help with your fitness goals, there are many options and programs for you to take advantage of here at New Fitness in Kitchener.
Have a great day everyone!
