Most people think they are eating “healthy”. That they are eating well or in support of their fitness and health goals. But in most cases, they are not. There are some nutrition mistakes that many people make and you might be making them too.

Eating Too Little, Eating Too Much

You think by cutting during the week, you can over eat on the weekends. This is not how it works. Your over all calorie intake for the week dictates how much you will lose or gain. It’s not daily calories that matters the most. If you are doing this, you are hindering your progress. It is much better to have a daily calorie goal and do that every single day vs under eating during the week and bingeing on the weekends.

Protein Bars And Protein Shakes

Having too many protein replacement meals is a huge mistake many people make. They see their favourite influencers touting this and even selling their protein shakes and bars to them and they fall for it every time. In actuality, you don’t even need the protein shakes or bars at all! You just need to eat adequately. It’s really not that difficult to get in the required protein you need for the day. It’s not as high as influencers or marketers would have you believe. If you’re intaking 0.08 grams per body pound, you’re good. Body builders yes need more than that. But are you a body builder? Probably not.

Eliminating Carbs

Carbs do not make you fat. They do not cause you to gain weight. Carbs are your primary source of fuel and less likely than actual fat to be stored as fat. The body likes to use Carbohydrates first, especially when you are engaging in activity. Peoples thinking, which is faulty is that if they eliminate carbs but eat an excess of fat that their body will just use fat as fuel. Fat has the highest amount of calories per gram out of the three macros, so it is more likely that it will be stored as fat. Not only that fat will be stored as fat because they are so similar. The body likes to store fat as fat. Moral of the story? Don’t limit Carbs!

All Or Nothing

Your fitness goals slash journey is not an all or nothing situation. You are going to have ups and downs, highs and lows. Just because you mistakenly or intentionally binge one day, doesn’t mean it’s all over and hey you might as well just forget it and keep continuing to eat like crap. It shouldn’t and doesn’t work like that. That one day of eating like you have a bottomless pit for a stomach isn’t going to have any effect on your body if you just keep it to that one day and not continue to binge. What am I saying? I’m saying that the next day, you should just continue on your journey and eat healthy again. You will find at the end of the week, that one day of bingeing had absolutely no impact. Don’t ever give up because of one off day!

If you are making these nutrition mistakes, try to resolve them right away. You will see awesome results and your fitness journey will certainly be more enjoyable and rewarding! Can you think of some nutrition mistakes you are making, or have made in the past?
