First of all let me tell you right now I have NEVER heard of hip dips before. EVER! This must be a new phenomenon. In my opinion  this is a brand new way to make women feel bad about their bodies.

Thigh gap- ring a bell? There was a time and is still going on right now that every woman was supposed to believe that she should have a thigh gap and somehow she was less than if she didn’t and her thighs touched. Some people, a lot of people have strayed away from that concept but now we are on to a new thing. What’s worse about this though is if you have hip dip there is literally nothing you can do about it so all you can do is sit there and focus on this one thing that is seen as a fault.

Ok so what is a hip dip? In case there are those of you(mostly men) who don’t even know what a hip dip is and probably couldn’t care less, but I digress. I shall go on and discuss what a hip dip is. In fact I have the exact definition of a hip dip. Want to know? I didn’t want to either but here goes! “The indentation which we call hip dents actually is known as the ‘trochanteric depression’ in anatomical terminology. Hip dips come about because of the shape of your pelvis. This shape usually is caused by having ‘high hips’, for example if your pelvis sits up high and is quite wide, it can mean there is a bit of a dip between your hip bones and where your thigh bone (femur) starts.”

So what does this tell you? That there is nothing you can do about hip dips and I’m here to tell you that 90% of women have hip dips. It’s true. It’s not a deformity. In fact when women started taking pictures and videos of their hip dips on Instagram and Tik Tok, they were meant to be body positive and now it has become a negative thing. Like there is something wrong with you. There isn’t. Like I said most people have hip dips.

The crazy part about this is if you search on google just the words “hip dip” there will be all these articles and blogs on how horrible hip dips are and how to get rid of them. All of these stupid websites and these stupid people telling you that exercise will get rid of hip dips.It won’t. Exercise will not change the shape of your pelvis. It will not alter your bone structure.

The point of this blog is that I want to emphasize that hip dips are normal and not weird and everyone should embrace their own natural bodies and bone structure and themselves. Your body is not an indicator of what a nice person you are or what a great mother, daughter and friend you are.

If you are healthy and thriving then you don’t need to worry about changing your body. Focus on being healthy such as working out regularly, consuming good quality healthy foods and water and keeping your mind healthy by not fixating on these trivial things about our bodies.

Comment below of your thoughts on this. Are you aware of hip dips? Do you have them? Do you care?
