Let’s face it, not all of us “enjoy” working out and in fact most people dread it. The mere thought of starting a fitness routine makes people break out in a cold sweat. Well, maybe it’s not that bad but it’s definitely something most people do not look forward to. I’m here to tell you that first it’s not that bad, it’s actually pretty great once you get into the swing of things and secondly there are exercises and workouts that don’t feel like a workout that are also pretty easy to do.

These are exercises that will ease you and your body into working out harder later on and will set the right mindset for you in order to start working out consistently and regularly. These 7 activities and exercises are:

Walking

Sounds pretty easy right? Well it is!. Start by walking around the block say after supper or before work. in fact doing this before work will be even better because you won’t have to think about it during the day and later on after Supper. There’s a chance you may be tired and don’t feel like it. If you set a regular schedule of walking every morning at the same time, this will put the thought into your mind that you must be active in someway each and every day. Remember I discussed mindset earlier? This will do it, this will put you in the proper mindset.

Bike Ride

Take you and your family out for a bike ride. This is a workout that you can do that doesn’t exactly feel like a workout to you psychologically but your body may have a different opinion! This is an excellent exercise and not that easy if you are riding up hills and going longer distances. You will also be spending time with your family(or friends) so it won’t feel like a workout. Prepare to be sore the first day though!

Swimming

You can do this inside or outside. There are many indoor pools as well as outdoor pools that you can join. Some of them even have water slides! Water slides are super fun and are exercise. You think I’m kidding but I’m not. You usually have to climb several stairs at first, maybe even carry a tube up them which in of itself is excellent exercise and then swimming when you get into the water to get to the other side is also excellent exercise. Swimming is one of the few exercises that is a cardio as well as strengthening in addition to a stretching exercise, all in one! It is also excellent for core stability and strengthening. I wouldn’t suggest going  everyday but every second day is great.

Hiking

Hiking in nature does wonders for you physically and emotionally. It is truly wonderful to hike through the forest or mountains and see all the animals living there, except for Bears. Bears we need to avoid! But all the other small animals like Chipmunks and Bunnies are so cute and will make you feel happy! You will also get a killer workout if there are hills and different terrain. It’s relaxing so it doesn’t feel like a workout at all but will work your core, hamstrings, quads, calves, etc. Also great for cardiovascular.

Soccer, Basketball, Or Any Other Group Sport

Now this may not be for everyone and some people will find this dreadful to be honest but for extroverted types and people who like to be part of a team. This a great activity that is most certainly a workout but won’t feel like one because of how fun it will be. Lots of workplaces have these kinds of activities because they know it’s good for morale and encourages team work. Find something you like and join. You will be glad you did!

Dancing

Take your Hubby or Wife out dancing. This can be a date night or a regular activity in which you take dancing lessons together or make a regular dancing date night every week. Dancing is fun and is a very good workout that doesn’t feel like one! It is very good cardiovascular wise and strengthens core, legs, and glutes. If you are looking to lose fat, this is an excellent activity to take up. Try it! You will like it!

Skating

Another activity that you can do with your family and or friends. This activity is super fun to do and is an excellent cardiovascular exercise. It is also an excellent strengthening exercise for your legs, glutes, core and calves. Make this activity a regular one by skating about twice per week. You will see results from this workout but won’t feel like you’re working out.

I hope this helped in making you realize that working out can be fun and can feel like you are not working out, but are just having fun with friends or family or even by yourself!. What are some fun activities and exercises that you do that have improved your life or seen results from? Let us know in the comments!
