Hiring a Personal Trainer definitely has it’s pluses. If you have a specific fitness goal in mind and are not sure where to begin or how you are going to achieve that goal, a Personal Trainer can help you reach that goal. They will be with you every step of the way, they will design a fitness program specifically for you while keeping in mind your weaknesses and possible injuries, and most of the time will also help you with your  nutrition so that it supports your workout program that they have designed. They will also ensure that you get the best possible results.

When hiring a Personal Trainer you need to make sure you are serious though and determined. We (Personal Trainers) only want to help those who are determined to help themselves. In other words we don’t want to waste time and effort on someone who isn’t committed. You will find this is the case with most Personal Trainers. We work very hard and put forth a lot of effort, time and emotion into you and your health and so if the client isn’t willing to put the same effort in, the working relationship will not last and chances are we won’t want to train you in the future. Just being honest here. So make sure you are very committed if you are going to seek out a Personal Trainer!

There are also possible drawbacks or things to think about when hiring a Personal Trainer . When you hire a Personal Trainer and it’s one on one training, it is just you and the trainer. It is very personal and if the two of you don’t match personality wise or you find your Personal Trainer irritating for some reason(it happens believe me) then it won’t be good for you. The chances that you will even want to attend the sessions will be low. It will definitely get in the way of you reaching your fitness goals. Another drawback or negative is that it is fairly difficult  to find a Personal Trainer that is knowledgeable and dedicated to you and your goals. Many times they are inexperienced and are more invested in themselves than you. So it may take some time to find a good one, but take the time. You will be happy that you did.

This is the last point I would like to make in helping you decide whether to hire a Personal Trainer. This last point is the cost of a Personal Trainer. It can be quite high in comparison to group training or a gym. Most often than not a good Personal Trainer will charge at least $80 a session. If you see a Personal Trainer charging less than that bear in mind that they will be inexperienced and new or they will not put in the work and effort that a more higher priced Personal Trainer will. You really do get what you pay for in this instance. When deciding to hire a one on one Personal Trainer, make sure you can afford the cost for at least three months. This is usually the minimum time frame that will be needed to achieve a fitness goal and more often than not it will take more time than that but hopefully you will have a grasp of what you need to do and you may be able to go it alone after that. This is for you to decide at the time. It is very common as a Personal Trainer to have clients for a year or more.

I hope this blog post helped you in your decision to hire a Personal Trainer. You can also just run outside, go hiking, swim or join a gym. The possibilities are endless when it comes to fitness! But when you need some expertise and help a Personal Trainer can definitely get you to your fitness goals faster and safer.
